NVC-MDCS71 is a highly integrated Bluetooth® Smart module targeted for low power Smart Devices and IoT applications. It integrates all features required for a Bluetooth Smart application, including Bluetooth radio, firmware stack and GATT-based profiles. The BLE Module NVC-MDCS71 can also host end-user applications to save external processor for the size or price constrained devices.
NVC-MDCS71 firmware integrates NovaComm iGate and Apple Notification Center Service (ANCS) which gives Bluetooth Smart Devices a simple and convenient way to access many kinds of notifications that are generated on iOS devices. iGate is a proprietary profile based on GATT, it works like traditional SPP profile to transmit any type of data between a BLE central and peripheral. Particular iGate firmware can set the NVC-MDCS71 to Master or Slave mode.
It can be powered directly from a standard 3V coin-cell battery or a pair of AAA batteries. In the lowest power sleep mode, it merely consumes 500nA and will wake up within a few hundred microseconds.
